This presentation will provide participants with an opportunity to broaden their knowledge of both the programming of Boardmaker (e.g., incorporating digital images and becoming familiar with popular features of v6 for Windows), as well as its application for communication and curriculum support. Basic Computer Skills

To become acquainted with your computer there are certain basic skills to be mastered. While these skills might seem obvious at first, the fact is that many people never take the time to learn these very important basics. By studying them now, you save time and improve your computer productivity. Upon completion of this training, staff will be able to use a mouse to point, click and double-click, learn keyboard and typing tips, opening and closing software files, accessing a CD-ROM, saving and locating saved files, and copying and pasting files or text.

Speech-Language Therapy From the Palm of Your Hand ipad Workshop

This workshop will guide attendees through an exploration of the use of mobile technology and software applications (“apps”) as tools for facilitating therapy for students with communication impairments and related disorders. The presentation’s focus will be to demonstrate how to take advantage of therapeutic materials available on hand-held devices that extend the evidence-based principles of treatment to address communication deficits as well as other related speech-language impairments. Participants will view how Smartphones, tablets and iPads can facilitate learning, provide assistive technology, and improve the student’s access to communication. Guided, media driven, tutorials will highlight direct skills remediation, training techniques, and compensatory strategy development using mobile technology Apps as a tool or medium. Moreover, the knowledge shared in this workshop will assist participants in keeping sight of the need to custom tailor educational solutions for each individual by providing information about features, benefits, and limitations
